Good day, Greenwood! Today’s weather has certainly kept us on our toes. We started the morning with some rain showers, which may have put a damper on plans for some folks. However, there’s a silver lining in the clouds—some sunshine is expected this afternoon. But, don’t let that sunshine fool you; while it brightens our day, there’s a possibility of thunder too. So, if you’re planning on being outdoors, it might be wise to keep an umbrella handy just in case!
Temperatures today are expected to reach a high of 69°F, which is quite pleasant for this time of year. However, the winds might make it feel a bit cooler, blowing in from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph. Our trusty weather app suggests a 60% chance of rain. So, keep that raincoat close!
As the day transitions into evening, those attending events or heading out for dinner will notice a significant weather shift. Expect clear skies tonight, a perfect backdrop for stargazers or those just wanting a peaceful evening walk. However, it’ll be a bit cooler with lows dropping to 39°F. The winds will pick up from the west-northwest, ranging from 15 to 25 mph, with occasional gusts potentially over 40 mph. It could get quite blustery, so don’t forget your jacket!
On a more serious note, local authorities in Greenwood have had a busy week. A gentleman by the name of Jeron Laren McCants, aged 36, was recently apprehended. Events unfolded on November 15th when police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at Reynolds Avenue. According to the police reports, the altercation involved McCants allegedly striking a woman with a closed fist and throwing a drink at her during a heated verbal exchange.
The police detail how McCants attempted to flee on foot multiple times upon their arrival. During this commotion, there was an incident where he attempted to enter another woman’s residence. This situation was quite a handful for our officers, yet they managed to handle it with the professionalism we are so grateful for. His record shows two prior convictions for domestic violence over the past ten years and he is currently out on bond for the same charge. This recent arrest adds to his ongoing legal issues.
