Serious Warehouse Fire Tackled by Greenwood Fire Teams
Earlier this week, Greenwood witnessed a fierce battle with flames as fire officials were called to action. On Tuesday around 2:45 p.m., multiple agencies, including the Greenwood County Emergency Management and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, along with Duke Energy, responded to an emergency at a metal commercial warehouse.
The warehouse in question is part of Faith Home, an important place that aids in the recovery and rehabilitation of those grappling with drug and alcohol dependencies. The warehouse is located at 144 Faith Home Road.
Details of the Incident
The fire was no small affair. A team of 26 firefighters toiled relentlessly for three hours to bring the blaze under control. They faced a challenging situation with thick smoke and aggressive flames erupting from the left wing of the building.
The affected area was an 800-square-foot section of the warehouse where Christmas decorations were stored, awaiting their journey to the thrift store associated with Faith Home. Sadly, this section bore the brunt of the damage from the flames, extreme heat, water, and the overall suppression efforts. The remaining 7,200 square feet faced extensive smoke damage.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and everyone involved was unharmed. The cause of the fire remains a mystery as the investigation is still ongoing.
Looking Ahead
It’s heartening to see the coordination and heroic effort by the multiple responding agencies. As Greenwood continues to thrive under clear skies, there is a community-wide hope that incidents like these remain rare occurrences.
