Wet Weather in Greenwood Takes a Dark Turn with Shooting Incident During Rainy Day

Wet and Worrisome Weather in Greenwood: A Rainy Day Takes a Shocking Turn

Good morning, folks in Greenwood! If you’ve been looking outside hoping for sunshine, today might not be your lucky day. The skies are pouring down with an endless supply of rain, promising a high of 56°F with showers that seem almost like the sky crying in response to today’s dramatic events. Based on the forecast, the winds are expected to whisper through at 5 to 10 mph.

As the day transitions into evening, the dampness lingers with lows dipping to 52°F. The rain isn’t planning on letting up soon, with a 70% chance that we will continue to see wet roads and keep our umbrellas close. With all this moisture in the air, it’s best to drive safely and keep an eye out for those puddles!

Behind the Raindrops: An Unexpected Incident

On a rather more sobering note, today’s weather became the backdrop for a rather startling turn of events in our community. At around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Greenwood Police found themselves rushing to what initially seemed like a typical traffic accident on Phoenix Street, situated near East Creswell Avenue. However, this was no ordinary collision.

According to Police Chief T.J. Chaudoin, the incident quickly spiraled into something more alarming – a shooting. Yes, you heard that right. Two vehicles at the scene had collided, and while this might sound like just another traffic mishap, one of the drivers involved had been shot, supposedly while trying to escape from a dangerous confrontation. How frightening!

The gunshot victim was promptly taken to Self Regional Healthcare. As of Sunday evening, there was still no word on their condition. We wish them a speedy recovery and hope the authorities keep us updated.

The Hunt Begins:

Currently, two suspects thought to be tied to this shocking incident have disappeared into thin air. They managed to leave the scene on foot and are now being actively pursued by local law enforcement. Chief Chaudoin stressed the importance of resident cooperation during this time. Residents in the area, especially those with doorbell cameras, are encouraged to check their footage and help capture any images of these elusive suspects.

The lack of identification on these individuals means details are scarce. However, it’s important to remain alert – these suspects are armed and potentially dangerous. If you or anyone you know has any information on this case, reaching out to the police department at 943-8632 could prove pivotal.

Life Goes on Amidst the Chaos

In a slight twist, there is a bit of relief for at least one driver involved in the accident. The female driver of the other vehicle, who wasn’t implicated in the shooting, appears to be unharmed. She swiftly left the scene, which is understandable given the chaotic circumstances. Although there’s no word on whether or not she sought medical attention, it seems like her guardian angel was certainly working overtime yesterday!

As we all try to digest these mixed emotions, remember to keep yourselves dry, safe, and sound. If you have any news tips or need to share a story, don’t hesitate to keep us in the loop. Meanwhile, keep those umbrellas handy and tread with caution. Until the storm passes and the sun shines through, take care!
