Prisma Health has made an exciting announcement that’s set to create waves in the healthcare education landscape in Laurens County. The organization has generously pledged $1 million to the Piedmont Technical College Foundation (PTC), aiming to significantly increase access to nursing and health sciences training on the college’s Laurens County campus.

According to officials from Prisma Health, this substantial financial commitment is designed to address the ongoing shortages in nursing and other healthcare professions within Laurens County and neighboring areas.

Strengthening the Healthcare Workforce Pipeline

“This partnership underscores our shared commitment to enhancing healthcare education in Laurens County,” noted PTC President Dr. Hope E. Rivers. “With Prisma Health’s generous support, this program will allow an increasing number of students to build foundational knowledge for future growth and success.”

The funding will be directed toward the Prisma Health Laurens Nursing Ladder Initiative, a program that provides students with a pathway to complete various healthcare credentials, ultimately leading to an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Investing in Future Health Professionals

Benfield, the CEO for Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital and Prisma Health Hillcrest Hospital, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Investing in nursing and health science education is an investment in the future health of our community. We are proud to collaborate with Piedmont Tech to develop a robust pipeline of skilled nurses and health sciences professionals who will serve the needs of Laurens County.”

What’s even more promising is the practical impact this funding will have on the students. The upgraded learning environments aimed at this partnership ensure that students feel prepared and confident to serve patients both in clinical and laboratory settings.

Enhanced Facilities and Expanded Opportunities

Part of the $1 million funding will support three new staff positions and various facility updates at the PTC Laurens County Campus. These enhancements are expected to be completed by late 2025, allowing the program to have a robust infrastructure to support its increased student capacity and enhanced educational offerings.

Advanced Learning Environments

The collaboration between Prisma Health and Piedmont Technical College is not just about adding numbers but envisioning and realizing the *most advanced learning environments* for the local communities. This approach allows students, once they graduate, to *hit the ground running* when they begin their professional careers.

In summary, this generous financial contribution by Prisma Health will pave the way for many future healthcare professionals, stemming from the Laurens County region. These efforts are not only vital but are also *integral to shaping the future of healthcare quality* and service provided to the communities served by Piedmont Technical College and Prisma Health.

By investing in the education and training of nurses and other health sciences professionals, Prisma Health and PTC are leading the charge in ensuring that Laurens County and the surrounding areas have a robust and prepared healthcare workforce for years to come.
