Ninety Six Residents Arrested on Serious Drug Charges

In a recent turn of events in the small town of Ninety Six, three individuals have found themselves facing serious drug-related charges after law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at a residence. This operation occurred on January 15, 2025, at an address on Saluda Street, marking a significant moment in the ongoing fight against drug-related crimes in the area.

Details of the Arrest

The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, with help from the Ninety Six Police Department, conducted a thorough search of the home, where they focused on two bedrooms. Officers discovered what they believe to be illicit substances, along with several weapons, raising serious concerns about the activities occurring in this seemingly quiet neighborhood.

Charges Against the Individuals

Following the search, three residents were arrested, and the charges against them are quite serious:

  • Heather Hopkins Lollis, a 45-year-old woman, is facing multiple charges. These include allegations of distribution, sale, manufacture or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near a school. Additionally, she has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine or cocaine, specifically trafficking quantities between 28 and 100 grams, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
  • James Curtis Poss, 54, has also been charged with serious offenses. He is facing charges tied to trafficking meth or cocaine in the range of more than 10 grams but less than 28 grams. Furthermore, he is in trouble for the distribution of meth and has also been pinned with charges related to distribution, sale, manufacture or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near a school. Like Lollis, Poss is also facing trafficking charges for meth or cocaine in the higher bracket of more than 28 grams but less than 100 grams.
  • Amie Nicole Prince, a 41-year-old woman, rounds out this trio of arrests. She is charged similarly with distribution, sale, manufacture or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance near a school. In addition, she faces charges for trafficking methamphetamine or cocaine in amounts greater than 10 grams but less than 100, as well as troubling charges for distribution of methamphetamine or cocaine, noted as her third offense.

Interestingly, the report mentioned a fourth individual whose name has been redacted and who has not yet been arrested. This suggests that there may be ongoing investigations or more developments to come in this case.

Outcome and Future Implications

As the situation unfolds, Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer has indicated that there are still warrants outstanding related to this case. Details will be released to the public as they become available, ensuring that the community is kept informed about any further developments.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges law enforcement faces in combating drug-related issues in our communities. The brave actions of the officers involved not only assist in keeping their local neighborhoods safer but also shine a light on the ongoing challenges many towns face due to drug trafficking and possession.

As the legal process begins for those arrested, residents of Ninety Six are sure to be watching closely, hoping for accountability and a reduction in these harmful substances within their community streets.
