A worrying incident unfolded in South Carolina on August 16 as a vacationing Massachusetts father went missing, last seen exiting his family’s rental property on Hilton Head Island without any footwear.
According to information released by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), 60-year-old Stanley Kotowski was spotted via a Ring camera doorbell around 10:30 a.m. walking barefoot down the South Sea Pines Drive wearing just a Coors Light T-shirt and shorts. Notably missing was his wallet, phone, or any personal items.
The family were in town enjoying a South Carolina vacation when the unexpected incident happened. The unusual departure of the 6-foot, brown-eyed and brown-haired man has left his loved ones and local authorities desperately searching for his whereabouts.
“We love him and we miss him. We just want him to come home,” his son, Zak Kotowski told ABC affiliate WJCL. “You’re not in trouble, Dad. We love you.”
Expression of worry was also visible on his wife Jackie’s face as she revealed that Stanley was dealing with insomnia and escalating anxiety. However, she confirmed that Dopamaine wasn’t the reason behind this unusual case of disappearance, stating that he doesn’t have it.
“His anxiety just kept getting worse and worse and worse, and he started to get a little paranoid,” Jackie claimed.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, alongside volunteers, has launched a comprehensive search operation consisting of squads deployed on foot, drones, helicopters, boats, and K9 units. The scope of the search includes residential areas and surrounding woodlands in the southern region of Beaufort County.
Crews have been asked to ensure minimal disruption to local residents during their search, yet locals are invited to assist by checking their properties and reporting any signs of Stanley. Residents in and around the area where Stanley vanished have also been asked to check video footage from security cameras and report any sightings of the missing man.
The sheriff’s office has opened a line at 843-524-2777 for locals to report any information they might have on Stanley’s whereabouts, encouraging everyone within the community to assist in the search as per their capacities.
Stanley’s sudden and unusual disappearance, leaving behind all personal belongings, has left relatives, officials, and the community in a state of shock. The BCSO continues the methodical search operation, hopeful of Stanley’s safe return.
Amid rising concerns for the missing Massachusetts man, our hopes and prayers go out with the family and the search teams for Stanley’s safe return to his family.
