As we step into February, the local church communities are buzzing with activity and fun events! With ample sunshine and milder temperatures in the forecast, families are encouraged to get out and participate in some enriching gatherings at various churches around town. So, mark your calendars and prepare for some engaging activities as we explore what’s planned for February and March!
Located at 4219 Hwy 178 S, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church is kicking off with a special Black History program on Sunday, February 23 at 10 a.m. This program will start with Sunday School, so families can enjoy a wholesome beginning to their day. The festivities will be led by the beloved Rev. Patricia Tolbert, who will inspire attendees with her sermon. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the rich history and contributions of the Black community!
Join the Family and Friends Day Celebration at the Perfected Tabernacle of Praise, located at 2418 Highway 221 E., Greenwood. Scheduled for Saturday, February 22 at 5 p.m., this event promises to be a delightful evening! Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their Sunday best, as there will be fun awards for the best-dressed male and female! The evening will feature guest preacher Pastor Andrea Dukes-Stevens from Fifth City Church, Mauldin, and delicious dinner will be served! For more information, feel free to call 864-344-3253.
The Little River Baptist Association, located at 415 Riley Road N., Hodges, is gearing up for an exciting Areawide Revival starting Saturday, March 1. Early risers can kick off the day with a Brotherhood Prayer Breakfast at 8:15 a.m. followed by a service at 9 a.m. Later that Sunday at 2 p.m., there will be a Youth Impact Program. The revival services will span from March 3 through March 6, starting at 6:30 p.m. nightly, featuring a line-up of amazing preachers from different churches ready to share an inspiring message. All services will be held at the Little River Multicultural Complex. You can learn more by calling 864-374-5200.
Don’t miss the 17th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, March 1, at the LRMBA Multicultural Complex in Hodges! The serving line opens at 8:15 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m., and the guest speaker is the well-respected Rev. William Butler, assistant pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church. As you step out for these events, keep in mind that the weather is looking promising, with abundant sunshine and a high of 47°F. Though the evenings may be chilly with lows around 24°F, it’s nothing a warm coat and a cheerful spirit can’t handle!
Finally, as we celebrate life and community, we take a moment to honor some beloved members of our community who have recently passed away. Jimmy Roger Hodges, aged 84, of Chocowinity, NC, passed away on January 26, 2025. Janice Wall Hodges, aged 64, of Nathalie, VA, left us on August 10, 2024, and Brandy Hodges, aged 37, also passed away on November 27, 2024. Their memories will always remain in the hearts of their loved ones.
