With students named on the prestigious President’s List and Dean’s List, the university showcases the dedication and hard work of local scholars. Notably, Ellyn Adams received the Thayer Award, recognizing her exceptional GPA. These achievements inspire fellow students and highlight the commitment of Lander University towards fostering a strong academic environment.
Good morning, Greenwood! It’s a bright and sunny day here, with temperatures reaching a comfortable 67°F. As the sun shines down on the community, it’s the perfect time to celebrate some fantastic achievements coming out of our very own Lander University. The university recently shared its honors for the Fall 2024 semester, bringing a wave of pride to students and faculty alike.
Mark your calendars! On January 29, 2025, Lander University announced its prestigious President’s List and Dean’s List honorees. Students who hit the books hard and achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA qualified for the President’s List, while those who earned GPAs between 3.5 and 3.9 made it to the Dean’s List. What a wonderful way to showcase academic excellence!
Among the notable recipients from our Lakelands region, several students from Abbeville made their mark on the President’s List, including Cameron Beauford, Zane Coursey, Jeremmy Estrella Christopher, and Riley Evans—kudos to them for their hard work and determination! In addition, the Dean’s List saw shining stars like Sydney Dawson, Charles Eppley, and Josie Evans, also hailing from Abbeville. It’s inspiring to see so much talent from our local area!
Of course, these fantastic students are not alone in their academic triumphs! Other honorees come from nearby towns, including Calhoun Falls, Greenwood, Hodges, McCormick, Ninety Six, Saluda, Ware Shoals, and Waterloo. It’s heartening to witness such a diverse group of scholars being recognized for their academic achievements.
In addition to the lists, we must give a special shout-out to Ellyn Adams from Myrtle Beach, who was awarded the prestigious Thayer Award. This award is given to the student with the highest GPA, and Ellyn has certainly earned it after completing 105 institutional hours with a stellar 4.0 GPA. The Thayer Award has been a tradition at Lander University since 1986, honoring Dr. Henry K. Thayer for his contributions to education.
The acknowledgment of students like Ellyn showcases not just academic brilliance but also the character and perseverance that set them apart. Faculty members, including Dr. Cherie Rains from the College of Business, have expressed their pride in these students, noting how they exemplify the values of hard work and integrity.
As Lander University continues to prepare students for future success, the accolades achieved this semester set a strong precedent for what lies ahead. The recognition not only motivates the students themselves but also inspires peers across the institution to strive for success. With committed faculty members and supportive community ties, it’s clear that Lander is creating a positive environment for learning and growth.
Let’s keep this momentum going, Greenwood! With a sunny day to enjoy and the achievements of our local scholars to celebrate, it’s a wonderful reminder of what hard work can achieve. Here’s to all the students who earned their place on the lists, and to those continuing to chase their academic dreams. Keep up the amazing work, everyone!
