In Greenwood, South Carolina, it’s a time for celebration as Lander University proudly announces that 21 of its talented student-athletes have been named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Teams! The much-anticipated announcement, made on March 20, recognizes the academic prowess of the university’s dedicated athletes, particularly from the men’s wrestling and acrobatics & tumbling teams. This acknowledgment not only highlights their athletic ability but also their remarkable commitment to academics. Talk about an impressive balancing act!
To qualify for this prestigious Academic All-Conference accolade, student-athletes must be at least juniors or seniors. In addition, they need to compete in a conference-sponsored sport and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on the 4.0 scale. It’s no easy feat, but these hardworking individuals have proven that they can excel both in the classroom and on the competition mat.
The men’s wrestling team has showcased some truly impressive talent this year. Among the scholars making the cut are Hayden Lawter, Isham Peace, Glen Decker, Charles Higdon, Garrett Wood, Xander McWilliams, William Hamilton, James Joplin, Anthony Giampietro, and Justin Goode.
