J&P Park Inc., a renowned portfolio of brands providing high-quality gardening and hobby-based products, is set to expand its Greenwood County operations. This expansion follows the recent acquisition of Northern Brewer, a leading name in the homebrewing industry. This move is part of J&P Park’s ongoing commitment to growth and job creation in the region.

According to a recent news release, J&P Park’s $750,000 investment is expected to generate 50 new jobs. The expansion includes a 15,000-square-foot facility on their main campus at 3507 Cokesbury Road in Hodges. This new space will be used to relocate Northern Brewer’s operations from Minnesota to South Carolina. The facility will enhance the inventory storage capabilities, allowing for efficient picking, packing, and fulfillment of e-commerce orders for homebrewing supplies which include top-quality ingredients and equipment.

We are incredibly excited to expand our operations in Greenwood County, a community that has been the heart of our company for nearly a century,” said J&P Park President and CEO Kelly Funk in the release. “This investment reflects our deep commitment to this region and our belief in its potential for continued growth. We look forward to creating new opportunities for local residents and continuing to be a proud part of Greenwood County’s future.”

J&P Park has had deep roots in South Carolina for many years. Founded in Pennsylvania in 1868, Park Seed, a significant brand under J&P Park, is recognized as one of the oldest and largest mail-order seed and plant companies in the U.S. The company moved to Greenwood County in 1924 and their current campus was completed in 1961.

Besides Park Seed and Northern Brewer, J&P Park also manages other well-known brands such as Jackson & Perkins, Wayside Gardens, and Van Dyke’s Restorers. The operations for Northern Brewer are already functional online in Greenwood, ensuring a smooth transition and continued service for customers.

Greenwood County Council Chairman Chuck Moates praised the expansion, stating, “J&P Park’s growth is a testament to the enduring strength of our local economy and the skilled workforce here in Greenwood County. With a century of history in Greenwood, J&P Park is truly a cornerstone of our community and one that continues to relocate business acquisitions to its Hodges campus from other parts of the country. This expansion, creating 50 new jobs, not only highlights their deep roots but also reinforces our shared commitment to building a thriving future together.”

As J&P Park continues to expand, the investment is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, providing new job opportunities and fostering economic growth in Greenwood County.

This development marks a new chapter for J&P Park as it continues to build upon its legacy while looking forward to future growth and success in the Greenwood community.
