Greenwood, S.C. – Exciting developments are underway in Greenwood School District 50 as the district has given the green light for a brand-new $9.9 million field house at Greenwood High School. This state-of-the-art facility is set to become a key component for the school’s athletic programs.
The new field house will boast a multipurpose design, featuring the following:
“We are thrilled to move forward with the construction of the GHS Field House,” expressed Mrs. Danielle Fields, District 50 Board Chairwoman. “This facility represents a significant investment in our students and community, providing a much-needed space for our athletic programs to thrive.”
The district has collaborated closely with architects and the Chairman of the Building/Facilities Committee, Mr. Ken Cobb, to ensure the project does not negatively impact the district’s finances. “The planning process was thorough, and we are confident that this project will be a sustainable investment,” added Mrs. Fields.
Construction of the field house is slated to begin in the summer of 2024 and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2025. This timeline provides ample time to ensure the facility meets all standards and expectations, benefiting high school athletes for years to come.
