Hello, Greenwood residents! We’re here to keep you informed about everything happening in your area, both the weather and recent news. Let’s dive right in!
Rise and shine, Greenwood! It’s going to be one of those days where the weather keeps us on our toes. This morning, areas of patchy fog have decided to join us, so if you’re hitting the roads early, be aware of reduced visibilities at times. Please drive carefully out there!
But don’t worry, because those cloudy skies we’re seeing this morning will give way to partly cloudy skies later this afternoon. We’ve got a pleasantly mild high of 78°F to look forward to, with winds paying us a gentle visit without too much fuss.
And as evening approaches, the skies will calm down with only a few clouds in sight. Temperatures are expected to drop to a cool 56°F, so it might be a good idea to have an extra layer handy if you’re planning to head out for the night.
In other news, a serious matter has come to the forefront in our community. An individual from Greenwood has been arrested due to some very alarming charges. Lawson Tate Still, aged 21, was apprehended by the diligent investigators of the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The arrest, which took place on October 21, stemmed from a CyberTipline report provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to authorities, Still faces one count of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of sexual extortion. These charges arise from allegations that he extorted a minor in order to acquire material related to child sexual abuse.
The case is now in the capable hands of the state attorney general’s office, which will carry the prosecution forward. It’s a stark reminder of the digital age dangers and the importance of vigilance and responsibility while online.
