The picturesque city of Greenwood is basking in the gentle glow of promising talents as the community honors its brightest young stars. Among those capturing attention is the dynamic Lindsey Riley Turner, recently celebrated for her contributions to local business and community outreach.
Greenwood, already enjoying today’s lovely weather forecast of sunny skies turning partly cloudy, with highs reaching a comfy 77°F, seems to mirror the sunny outlook for its rising young professionals. Lindsey Riley Turner, working alongside her father, Steve Riley, at Emerald Ink and Stitches, has caught the eye of many after being awarded a coveted spot among the Greenwood Under 40 Stars. This acknowledgment not only points to her career achievements but also her inspiring journey of growth and dedication.
Lindsey’s career path is a testament to life’s unpredictability. Initially steering towards a role in ministry, she fondly recalls starting as a youth and children’s minister. “You never know where you’re going to end up, that’s for sure,” she noted, demonstrating the twists her professional life has offered—leading her eventually to marketing and promotion.
Her current role at Emerald Ink and Stitches, originally started by her father in 2003, involves a blend of creative and strategic skills. Promotion and marketing didn’t always seem like her calling, but over time, and with a bit of initial reluctance, Turner has embraced these challenges with fervor. “In all honesty, I said I would never do it,” she reminisces. Today, she finds fulfillment in crafting marketing strategies, managing client accounts, and leading their promotional efforts.
The Greenwood Under 40 Stars award was as surprising as it was rewarding for Turner, especially given her previous role on the award selection board. “[The award] felt surreal and almost funny coming from Trentsie (Williams),” she quips, highlighting her modesty despite the well-deserved recognition.
On the surface, the recognition showcases her professional prowess, but deeper, it underscores the impact she has—both within the business and the wider Greenwood community. Her roles encompass not only her professional endeavors but also her participations like chairing Connect Young Professionals, assisting with the S.C. Festival of Flowers, and engaging with her church community.
From early bookkeeping stints at her dad’s company to leading business strategies, Turner’s journey is a full circle. Having started in her teens, she’s gained a deep appreciation and understanding of the company’s operational dynamics. Alongside her father, Turner deftly navigates challenges posed by the digital age, cautiously balancing the shift towards online marketing with maintaining personable client relationships. Her approach aligns with maintaining the significance of shopping locally, pointing out, “You’re supporting the people you grew up with, so why would you not support the people around you?”
Her father, Steve Riley, reflects proudly on Lindsey’s journey: “She’s a rapid learner, skilled with technology and packed with determination.” As generational traits blend, where tradition meets modernity, Lindsey Riley Turner emerges as a beacon of the hard-working spirit and innovative thinking thriving in Greenwood.
All in all, the combination of Greenwood’s warm weather and the inspiring stories of its young professionals sets a hopeful and prosperous tone for the community. Empowered individuals like Lindsey Riley Turner ensure that Greenwood is not only a beautiful place to live but also a vibrant cradle of growth and opportunity.
