Greenwood Man Faces Charges After Domestic Dispute

Greenwood Man Faces Charges After Domestic Dispute

A Series of Threatening Events

In Greenwood, a man is facing a list of charges following a contentious incident involving a potential firearm threat. Terry Lee Mills, a 42-year-old local resident, was arrested last Thursday with allegations of pointing and presenting a firearm at a person as well as elevated domestic violence, as stated in the report.

A distressing situation unraveled, beginning with a complaint from a man who claimed that Mills approached him during a conversation with a friend, persistently telling him to leave the area. The situation escalated when Mills reportedly drew a black handgun and directed it towards the individual, leading to a hasty exit from the location.

The Incident Tracked to a Gas Station

Immediately after this encounter, the targeted individual sought refuge at a nearby gas station. However, he relayed to the deputies that Mills pursued him there in a separate vehicle. Even after he had vacated the confines of the gas station, Mills allegedly continued the pursuit for a short duration.

The officers managing the case also conversed with the woman involved in the initial meeting. Her testimony mirrored the details outlined by the complainant. She confirmed that Mills approached them, demanded they leave, and then brandished a firearm towards her friend.

Officers Unable to Locate the Alleged Firearm

Interestingly, when the officers located Mills he did not have a firearm on his person or in his vehicle. He admitted to having a verbal dispute with the pair, however, he vehemently denied ever pulling out a gun.

The Greenwood officials were unfortunately unable to provide further clarity on the situation due to a lack of substantial evidence to collaborate these allegations. Consequently, the charges are left to the court to decide in lieu of the significant inconsistencies in the narrative provided by the parties involved.

A Cautionary Tale Amidst Partly Cloudy Skies

The incident unfolded amidst an underlying tension stemming from the weather conditions. The skies showed signs of being only partly cloudy, with the slight possibility of a stray shower or thunderstorm. The numbers on the thermometer dropped to a low of 74 degrees Fahrenheit, with winds breezing in from the Southwest at a speed of 5 to 10 miles per hour.

The local authorities urge residents to keep aware of their surroundings and report suspicious behaviors immediately in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.
