The gentle northeast winds blowing at 5 to 10 mph make for a pleasant breeze to keep things cool. When the sun sets, you can look forward to partly cloudy skies and a comfortable low of around 62°F. Winds will mellow down to a whisper, being light and variable, perfect for an evening stroll.

A Stirring Arrest

While the weather might be calm, some events in Greenwood are anything but! A young man by the name of Johnkevious Demond Elmore, just 26 years old, was recently arrested, causing quite a stir in the neighborhood. Residing on Grier Street in Greenwood, he now faces a serious list of charges.

On September 26th, officers from the city’s drug and detective units took action by searching a residence on Dry Branch Court. The search revealed quite a concerning find: **several large baggies containing a crystal-like substance**. After field-testing, the substance turned out positive for methamphetamines and weighed a whopping 721.9 grams! That’s a hefty amount indeed!

But that’s not all. The officers also discovered 22 pink circular pills stamped ‘K-56’, which were identified as Oxycodone, a well-known narcotic pain medication. To add to the list, a 9mm firearm was also found during the search.

Facing Serious Charges

As a result of these discoveries, Johnkevious Demond Elmore faces several charges. He has been charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a person previously convicted of intent to distribute a controlled substance. Clearly, this is no small matter, and it’s raising eyebrows across the community.

Such incidents highlight the ongoing challenges that local law enforcement face and they’re definitely not taking it lightly. As the investigation unfolds, residents of Greenwood are keeping a keen ear out for more updates.
