Senior Cason Howle dominated his category with a technical fall win, while Luke Howle also delivered a thrilling victory. The girls’ team showcased extraordinary talent, securing fourth place overall, led by Sophia Ricardo who claimed the 125-pound title. The boys’ team finished in the top 15, with several standout performances, building anticipation for their next competition in Chapin.
In the charming city of Greenwood, there was a buzz of excitement this weekend as the local high school wrestling program showcased its impressive talents at the highly competitive Bearcat Invitational. Out of over 50 teams competing, Greenwood High School wrestlers carved out an incredible reputation, securing an impressive eighth place overall in the tournament!
Leading the charge was senior standout Cason Howle, who dominated the mats in the intensely fought 215-pound category. In a thrilling finish, he clinched the title with a technical fall victory against Caleb Gordon from Ashbrook High School in North Carolina. Cason’s hard work and determination paid off, and his victory was a highlight for the Greenwood community.
Not to be outdone, fellow senior Luke Howle etched his name in the spotlight as well. He battled fiercely in the 144-pound finals, bringing home the win with a nail-biting 2-1 score against Kayden Fogarty from Indian Land. The twins proved to be a formidable duo, igniting cheers and pride among fans and teammates alike!
It wasn’t just the boys who showcased their skills; the girls’ wrestling squad maintained an impressive performance throughout the event. Leading the pack was Sophia Ricardo, who claimed the 125-pound title in decisive fashion, overpowering Cora Woolfolk from Virginia’s Dinwiddie High School. Bravo, Sophia!
