Greenwood’s Newest Industrial Marvel: E.A. Sween Co.’s $39M Sandwich Facility Begins Production

Exciting news from Greenwood County, South Carolina! E.A. Sween Co. has officially opened their brand-new production facility, a significant investment valued at $39 million. Located in the North Greenwood Industrial Park, this state-of-the-art plant is set to operate two shifts daily and is expected to hire over 300 workers in the next two years. This unveiling marks a milestone in the company’s remarkable journey.

An Ambitious Vision Realized

The opening of the new facility has been a dream long in the making. “We are thrilled to see our vision of this new facility become a reality,” said Tom H. Sween, President and CEO of E.A. Sween Co. “We appreciate the continued community support as this project has been nearly two years in the making. We are also grateful for our outstanding partnerships with both Greenwood County and the town of Hodges in guiding us on this journey.”

Founded in 1955, E.A. Sween Co. is a proud, third-generation, privately-owned company. They are renowned for their production and nationwide shipping of sandwiches and other ready-to-eat products. Their popular brands, including Deli Express, Market Sandwich, San Luis, and Simply Delicious Bakery, contribute to their annual sales of over 100 million sandwiches! Incredible, right?

Community Celebration

The excitement for the new facility extends beyond the company walls. “We are celebrating alongside E.A. Sween Company, as they begin operations in their new production facility,” said Greenwood County Council Chairman, Chuck Moates. “This achievement reflects years of dedicated effort, starting with the conceptualization of a spec building that has evolved into an ideal setting for E.A. Sween Co.’s success. In E.A. Sween Co., we have found not just an occupant, but a perfect match for Greenwood County.”

Greenwood County Council Vice Chairman, Theo Lane, echoed this enthusiasm. He remarked, “I am thrilled to witness the success of E.A. Sween Co. The startup of their production marks a pivotal moment for our community that highlights the growth along the Hwy 25 North corridor.” He continued, “We are grateful to the Sween family for the confidence they have displayed in Greenwood County. Together, we are building more than facilities; we are building a foundation for the future.”

A Foundation for Future Growth

This new facility exemplifies E.A. Sween Co.’s commitment to innovation and growth. As they ramp up operations in Greenwood, they are set to contribute significantly to the local economy, creating job opportunities and actively participating in the vibrant community life.

It’s an exciting chapter for Greenwood County—a region that continues to develop as a thriving hub of industrial and economic activity. Here’s to a bright and sandwich-filled future!
