Greenwood Witnesses Major Drug Bust: Thousands of Fentanyl Pills Seized

Hello, folks! A significant drug bust in Greenwood might be the talk of the town this sunny day. If you’re enjoying the clear skies and mild weather of 68°F during the day and 41°F at night, here’s a gripping news story to keep you warm with intrigue.

Drug Trafficking Operation Uncovered

In a well-coordinated effort, Greenwood police officers, with the assistance of various divisions including the City Narcotics Division and the county Solicitor’s Office, executed search warrants at two locations on S. Main St. This operation resulted in the seizure of several thousand fentanyl pills, cocaine, five firearms, pill binder powder, and a pill press. The items confiscated were enough to suggest that they came across a potential manufacturing location for fentanyl pills.

In a press release, Police Chief T.J. Chaudoin expressed, “The dangerous nature of these items, particularly the fentanyl pills, underscores the urgency of our operation.”. It’s a relief knowing our police force is keenly aware of the risks these illicit drugs pose to our community and acting swiftly to rid our streets of these dangers.

Meet the Suspects

The operation led to the arrest of three individuals who now face serious felony drug charges. Let’s have a look at who they’ve nabbed:

  • Cory Lamont Johnson, 44: Charged not just once, Cory finds himself facing multiple charges including trafficking fentanyl (28 grams or more), trafficking cocaine (28 grams or more), trafficking crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, having a weapon during a violent crime, and quite shockingly, unlawful conduct toward a child.
  • Michael Anthony Makins, 61: Charged with trafficking fentanyl (28 grams or more) and possession of marijuana. At his age, these charges bring into question what led him down this path.
  • Tiffany Nicole Ebo, 34: With a list of charges similar to Cory’s, Tiffany finds herself accused of trafficking fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, having a weapon during a violent crime, and again, unlawful conduct towards a child.

Team Effort Yields Results

The success of the case was a joint effort with a “big thank you” to federal partners from Chief Chaudoin. The bust on Thursday was no small feat and required the dedication and persistence of multiple departments working together closely to ensure the operation’s success. Such interagency collaboration highlights the importance of working together to keep our streets safe.
