Greenwood County Partners with SCDOT for Comprehensive Storm Debris Clean-Up Initiative

Greenwood County Partners with SCDOT for Storm Debris Clean-Up

Hello there, Greenwood County residents! It’s been quite the week here, with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene still very much lingering in our local neighborhoods. But there’s some good news on the horizon! In a united effort to get our town back to normal, the Greenwood County Council is teaming up with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to clean up the storm debris that has been left behind. That’s right—this partnership means we can expect to see action soon in our communities!

What You Need to Know

So, what’s the plan moving forward? Well, SCDOT crews are set to kick things off by clearing debris from both the primary and secondary roads. After they’ve made some headway there, they’ll start tackling the state-maintained neighborhood roads. But it doesn’t stop there! Our dedicated Greenwood County crews will be on the ground simultaneously, focused on cleaning up the debris from our private neighborhoods and roads.

Currently, these hardworking teams are busy in Hodges and Cokesbury, but they won’t be stopping there. Soon enough, they’ll move over to Ware Shoals as part of this widespread clean-up effort. It’s all hands on deck, and the goal is clear—let’s make our beautiful Greenwood County shine again!

Guidelines for Debris Collection

  • Head to the landfill: Yes, folks, if you have debris lying around, taking it to the landfill can really make a difference! The landfill is equipped to accept debris of any size, so don’t hesitate to bring what you can to help.
  • Stay informed: If you have any questions regarding debris removal or the clean-up process, you’re encouraged to call the Storm Debris Hotline at (864) 321-1097. They’ll be more than happy to provide the information you need!

Community Spirit

During times like these, it’s the spirit of our community that truly shines. Helping one another, being patient, and working together will ensure that we bounce back stronger than ever. It might take a little bit of time, but with the combined efforts of our local government and all of you—our wonderful residents—we will get through this.\

As we move forward, let’s continue to look out for one another. Sharing information, being mindful of our surroundings, and doing small acts of kindness can go a long way in restoring the heart of Greenwood County. If you see someone struggling with storm debris, maybe offer a hand! We are all in this together.

So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work! With the clean-up operation underway, we can look forward to cleaner streets and less stress as we try to return to our regular routines. Remember, stay safe, and let’s help each other out as we clean up our beautiful Greenwood County!
