Greenwood County Sets Record with Financial Reporting Recognition for 33rd Year

Greenwood County is celebrating an impressive milestone after earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the 33rd consecutive year. This award is recognized as the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting.

Earning this certificate is no small feat. The county’s annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) must undergo a thorough evaluation by an impartial panel of experts. These experts ensure the report adheres to a “spirit of full disclosure” and effectively communicates the county’s financial story.

“Receiving the Certificate of Achievement for the 33rd consecutive year is a remarkable milestone for Greenwood County,” said Greenwood County Treasurer Steffanie Dorn. “This achievement is a reflection of the tireless efforts of our financial team over the years to maintain the highest standards of transparency and accountability. We are committed to managing the county’s finances with integrity and serving our community with excellence.”

The certificate underscores the county’s dedication to maintaining high standards. Greenwood County Council Chairman Chuck Moates added, “This award for the 33rd year in a row highlights our county’s long-standing commitment to fiscal responsibility and accurate reporting. Our dedication to prudent financial management ensures that the resources of Greenwood County are handled with the utmost care and responsibility, which is something we take great pride in.”

The ongoing recognition is a testament to Greenwood County’s pursuit of excellence in managing public funds and reporting with clarity and transparency.
