Greenwood, the city nestled amidst the picturesque rolling hills, is buzzing with excitement this week. Why, you ask? Because the Greenwood Community Theatre is all set to unravel a mystery that promises to be both thrilling and hilarious. **Mark your calendars for November 1-3** for an unforgettable experience that will have theater-goers on the edge of their seats.
The local theater group is bringing to life the classic murder mystery **“Clue,”** based on the beloved board game and the 1985 film that many hold dear. If you love a good **whodunit** with a twist of humor, then this is the perfect treat for you!
The stage adaptation promises to involve all your favorite suspects — Colonel Mustard, Mrs. White, Miss Scarlet, and the rest of the colorful crew. Picture yourself in **1954, Washington, D.C.**, where each room might hold a secret, and each character harbors a motive. The question remains the timeless inquiry: who is the culprit?
RiLee James, the stage manager, has described the production as “big” and quite a puzzle in its own right, requiring intricate coordination to pull off the moves of a complex set filled with doors and secrets.
Preparation for this production began back in August, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The team faced a brief hiccup when **Hurricane Helene** decided to make its presence known, but the resilient cast and crew were soon back to rehearsals, undeterred and more enthusiastic than ever.
Guest director Brad Christie notes that the sound design plays a critical role in setting the tone, with live, interactive sound effects that promise to draw the audience even deeper into the mystery unfolding on stage. Expect to hear **rain and barking noises** orchestrated from an old-fashioned foley station, with a little help from unsuspecting audience members!
Foley artist and cast member, **Joey McClain**, takes on the role of Mr. Boddy and these antics are set to be a highlight, infusing the show with a personal touch and inviting audiences to engage with the story in an innovative way.
Meanwhile, Matt Killingsworth, who plays Professor Plum, brings his passion for the original **Clue** board game to the stage, adding layers of authenticity and nostalgia that fans are sure to appreciate. “Everyone’s got secrets,” he laughs, “and we’re all trying to figure it out along with the audience!”
With sponsorship strong, the season sponsored by a local energy giant and individual shows by community leaders, Gateway Community Theatre is ready to whisk you away on a journey of intrigue and laughter. So if you’re craving an evening of **laughter**, a little mystery, and a lot of fun, pick up those tickets soon!
Remember, performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. on November 1 and 2, with matinees at 2 p.m. on November 2 and 3. Tickets are just a call away, and the box office is open Tuesday through Friday, eagerly awaiting to accommodate theater enthusiasts.
Greenwood Community Theatre invites all to embark on this comical, suspenseful adventure. Will you solve the mystery before the final curtain? There’s only one way to find out. See you at the theater!
