**GREENWOOD** – In a tragic incident that unfolded Wednesday evening, **Charlie Mon’Ta Adams**, aged 43, of 421 Cokesbury Street, Greenwood, has been arrested and charged with **murder and possession of a weapon** during the commission of a violent crime. The grim event took place at a residence on the corner of Cokesbury Street and Durst Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.
According to a press release from County Coroner **Sonny Cox**, his office received a call to attend the scene of a death at the described location. Upon arrival, police discovered **Demetrous Childs**, also 43, of Independence Way, suffering from a **stab wound to the chest**. Unfortunately, **Childs was pronounced dead at the scene**.
The Greenwood Police Department stated that Adams and Childs were roommates and had a **heated altercation** leading to the fatal incident. At this time, authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the argument or if any previous disputes were known between the two individuals.
The Greenwood Police also highlighted that **this case is still under investigation**. They are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
