3 Charged After Several Thousand Fentanyl Pills Seized in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Greenwood Police Department announced that three people were recently charged after officers discovered several thousand fentanyl pills during a search operation.

Search Operation Yields Major Haul

The incident unfolded on July 25 when officers executed searches at two residences on South Main Street as part of an ongoing investigation. According to authorities, the searches led to the seizure of a massive haul that included several thousand fentanyl pills, pill binding powder, a pill press, marijuana, cocaine, “crack” cocaine, and five firearms.

Charges and Suspects

Following the seizure, three suspects were promptly taken into custody. Two of the suspects, Cory Johnson and Tiffany Williams, face multiple charges including trafficking fentanyl 28 grams or more, trafficking cocaine 28 grams or more, trafficking “crack” cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful conduct towards a child.

The third suspect, Michael Makins, was charged with trafficking fentanyl 28 grams or more and possession of marijuana.

Community Impact

This significant bust comes as a relief for the Greenwood community, which has been grappling with the severe impacts of the opioid crisis. The large-scale seizure of fentanyl pills is particularly noteworthy given the drug’s notorious potency and the dangers it poses.

As the investigation continues, community members are hopeful that this operation marks a step towards safer streets. Stay tuned for more updates as we gather further details on this developing story.

Recent Incidents

This case isn’t the only alarming event recently. Just last week, another major seizure of illegal substances disguised as harmless items added to the concerns of local residents. These continuous efforts by law enforcement signify the ongoing battle to curb drug trafficking in the area.

For now, the focus remains on holding those responsible accountable and preventing further distribution of dangerous narcotics.
