Greenwood Residents Alerted: Unusual Fentanyl Pills Scattered During Police Chase

Hey, Greenwood citizens! Residents are advised to remain watchful after an eventful early Wednesday morning created quite a buzz in the neighborhood. If you’ve been in the area of Reynolds Avenue down to Pelzer Street, chances are you might need to be slightly more attentive when out and about.

Here’s the lowdown on what happened. Around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, while most of us were probably tucked up in bed, the officers from our local Drug Enforcement Unit were out on the job, trying to stop a car over on Crosscreek Connector. Sounds routine, right? Well, things took a twist. Instead of pulling over, the driver sped off. And, as if in a scene from a movie, the folks inside started hurling pills out the car windows!

Now, this wasn’t just any kind of pills – these were 8.5 pounds of fentanyl pills, a mix of blue ones and some multi-colored varieties. Many of you might know that fentanyl is no joke, and having these lying around certainly is alarming. Even more so, these colorful pills might catch the eye of curious young ones who might mistake them for candy.

What’s Been Done?

As soon as the chase wrapped up, officers retraced the route from the night before and worked diligently the next morning to collect as much of the scattered pills as possible. Thanks to their efforts, most of it has been recovered, including a pill press thought to be used in making these pills. However, word from our Police Chief is that there could still be some pills out there.

Chief T.J. Chaudoin, who’s been actively keeping the community informed, took to Facebook to share the stark warning about these pills, urging everyone to talk to their kids about the potential danger. The last thing anyone wants is a youngster picking up a pill, thinking it’s a colorful sweet!

Heads Up on Arrests

This event also saw the arrest of three individuals. Kentayvis Markeese Goode, Zeterius Rayshun Jones, and Jamaius Cortez Louden now face serious charges including trafficking fentanyl and intent to distribute. The arrests, however, are the result of sharp police work combined with quick community support.

Stay Safe

The police department is actively seeking any further information from the community. If you spot any of these pills or hear anything, do make sure it’s reported right away. Just give a call to the police department at 864-942-8401 and let them handle it.

Missing any action, folks? Well, lucky you got the alert. Ensure you’re keeping an eye out and giving a heads-up to those around you. Everyone’s efforts together can help keep our neighborhoods safe for us all.

Oh, and before we wrap up the conversation about this incident, let’s talk weather because, hey, who doesn’t love sunshine! Greenwood is looking forward to some sunny to partly cloudy skies today with temperatures peaking around 84°F. Winds from the east/northeast will be gentle, so it’s shaping up to be a lovely day. Night owls can expect partly cloudy skies with a refreshing low of 62°F. So, seems like the perfect weekend for a stroll, only let’s make it a vigilant one!
