Christi Louden: A Beacon of Hope and Knowledge in Greenwood County

Greenwood County is home to a remarkable individual who has tirelessly dedicated her life to the enrichment of education and the betterment of her community. Christi Louden, the current assistant superintendent for administration in District 50, has been a pivotal part of Greenwood’s educational landscape, leaving an indelible mark through her various roles.

Starting her journey in education as a fifth-grade teacher at Woodfields Elementary School, Christi quickly found her groove, earning accolades for her exceptional commitment and teaching skills. She was honored as the First-Year Teacher of the Year and later snagged the title of District 50 Teacher of the Year, showcasing her natural flair for connecting with students and fostering a positive learning environment.

A Passion that Blossomed Early

Christi’s passion for learning ignited back in high school while participating in a teacher cadet program in Greer, South Carolina. After graduating from Greer High School, she took a big step toward her dreams by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Clemson University. Little did she know that this was just the beginning of her profound journey in education.

Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she transitioned into the role of a literacy coach at Woodfields, contributing to both student learning and teacher development. Her eagerness to make a difference was evident as she climbed the ranks, becoming the assistant principal at Merrywood Elementary, and later taking the helm as principal at Lakeview Elementary.

Administrative Leadership

With a strong background in education, Christi up her game as the director of staff development and evaluation. In April 2022, she embraced the challenge of leading as the assistant superintendent for administration, a position that allowed her to influence not just her school but entire communities throughout Greenwood County.

To complement her extensive experience, Christi has pursued higher education feverishly. She earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University. Currently, she’s closing in on a Doctorate of Education degree, expected to be completed in the spring of 2025. This commitment to her studies reflects her understanding that education never stops—it’s a lifelong endeavor.

A Family Beyond the Classroom

For Christi, District 50 is more than just a workplace; it feels like family. She’s built lasting relationships with countless staff members, students, and their families. It’s a place where she’s witnessed her former students return as colleagues, marking a full-circle moment that is heartwarming and inspiring.

Community Engagement

Christi doesn’t stop at her educational roles. She is actively involved in the Rotary Club of Greenwood, having served as both club director and administration chairperson. Her commitment to the community extends beyond her day job, as she was also elected as a trustee on the Self Family Foundation Board in December 2024, where she aims to enhance the quality of life in Greenwood County through education.

Encouraging Growth and Resilience
