Community Comes Together for Celebrations and Events in Greenwood

Celebrating Community and Faith in Greenwood

It’s a delightful time to be in Greenwood, as the heartwarming weather of a bright day shines on an array of community celebrations and events set to bring everyone together in joy and unity. While the sun teases us with a mix of clouds and pleasant warmth, clocking highs of 78°F with a gentle southwesterly breeze, the community gears up for a special weekend.

A Celebratory Milestone

One of the highlights this weekend is the sixth church and pastoral anniversary celebration at The Perfected Tabernacle of Praise. The event runs from today, November 1, through to the 3rd, and promises to be a time of reflection and festivity.

Tonight at 7 p.m., the church will be celebrating its anniversary with Pastor Jeremiah Williams, alongside his congregation from Blessed Hope Temple Ministries in Anderson. It’s bound to be an evening marked by gratitude and joy as the community comes together to honor this significant milestone.

Family Fun and Fellowship

The celebrations continue into Saturday, November 2, where a Family and Friends Fun Day awaits from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This event is open to all and features a variety of games, delightful food, and local vendors—all ensuring a day packed with enjoyment for individuals of all ages. Come and join in the fun at 2418 Hwy 72/221 E. (Laurens Highway). Whether you’re looking to unwind or shop, there’s something here for everyone.

Honoring Leadership

On Sunday, November 3, at 2 p.m., the community will honor Elder Demetrius Chiles in a special pastoral anniversary celebration. Esteemed guests, including Apostle Marquis J. Grant and Thee Dwelling Place Apostolic Center from Yemassee, will partake in this joyous occasion. It’s a perfect chance to reflect on the dedication and leadership that have touched many lives.

A Day of Prayer

Also on the agenda is the 2024 Women’s World Day of Prayer, sponsored by the Little River Missionary Baptist Association’s Women’s Auxiliary. Taking place at 3 p.m. on November 3 at the Little River Multicultural Complex, women in attendance are encouraged to wear white as a symbol of unity and peace. This day of prayer will be guided by Reverend Joseph Caldwell from Crossroad Baptist Church, offering a serene and reflective afternoon for all participants.

Regular Sunday Services

For those seeking a place of worship this coming Sunday, St. Charlotte Baptist Church in McCormick will be holding their regular service at 10 a.m., with Bobby Moore delivering the message. This service is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual nourishment and community connection.

Upcoming Holiday Preparations

As we look ahead, St. Mark United Methodist Church is preparing to usher in the holiday spirit with their Decking the Halls for the Tinsel and Treasures sale on November 8 and 9. It’s a chance to engage in some seasonal shopping on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $5 and include delightful refreshments and door prizes. Interested shoppers can secure their spots in advance by reaching out through their provided email.

Finally, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church invites everyone to their Harvest Rally on November 10. This day is set to begin with a morning message from Rev. Deloris Henderson at 11 a.m., followed by an afternoon message from Rev. Quincy Baylor at 3 p.m.

This vibrant tapestry of community events showcases the spirit and togetherness inherent in Greenwood. Whether you are looking to engage in prayer, celebrate milestones, or simply enjoy some family fun, there’s something for everyone to partake in. Let’s cherish these moments of unity and joy!
