Three Women Arrested for Food Benefit Fraud

In other news, the South Carolina Department of Social Services has charged three women with committing food benefit fraud. The women, including one from Greenwood County, were taken into custody by special agents from the agency’s Office of Inspector General over the past week.

The three women arrested are:

  • Erin Elizabeth Barber, 48, from Greenwood County
  • Sasha Michelle Price, 36, from Dillon County
  • Robyn A. Davis, 45, from Horry County

Each of the women faces one count of fraudulently acquiring or using food stamps exceeding $10,000. According to the affidavit, Barber knowingly and willingly obtained SNAP benefits based on the submission of eight SNAP application forms.

Barber allegedly received $21,445 in benefits on two separate occasions: between April 2019 and March 2020, and again between October 2020 and September 2023. Following her arrest, Barber was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center. The case against her is being prosecuted by the Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office.

Authorities have been working diligently to uncover and address fraud within assistance programs. The actions against Barber, Price, and Davis are part of ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of these essential services. The Department of Social Services continues to urge the public to report any suspicious activities related to benefit fraud.
